WHO WE ARE:
Hello we are the Marrocco family and every year we put on a dazzling Christmas light display in Selden. It all started when I was a little kid. Christmas was one of my favorite holidays growing up and I would beg my dad to put lights on the house. I just loved how they looked at night and how much joy it brought to the family. After years have passed and I got older I started helping my dad put the lights on the house to now which I do it all myself with the help of family and friends. Each year we try to add something new to give the display a different look. Throughout the years, we've been getting more and more visitors to come and see the show and we appreciate everyone's support throughout the years.
ABOUT THE DISPLAY:
For 2020, the display consists of 80,000 LEDs. So with a display like this , we usually start the first week of October and work hard all the way right before Thanksgiving, when the display will go live for the very first time. Our display consists of leaping arches, dancing mini Christmas trees, a 17' mega tree, shooting stars, lollipops and MUCH MUCH MORE!!!!!!!

What people love most about our display is how neat and clean it is. We do our best not to over cluster our work but to keep it clean the best we can. As years go on we try and take old elements out of the display to make room for new ones. Each year it gets bigger and it gets brighter. That's what so great about LEDs. First off they're energy sufficient, last longer and they're brighter then your average incandescent lights.

SYNCHRONIZED:
What makes our display very unique is that all of the lights are perfectly timed to music. To make this happen we use a computer software called Light-O-Rama. Each of these are boxes that have a little computer inside and each box consists of 16 channels/plugs. One box alone provides enough power to control a 9,000 mini-light display. In total we have 16 in the whole display for a total of 256 channels.
The programming part of it is what takes time and a lot of man hours. An average song can take me 50-60 hours to program. Depending on how hard the song is and how long it is. If I get stumped on a song it can take me about 10 hours to program a minute of music...oh but what a minute it is!!! So when do I start programming? I start in the off season usually from April through August.
Another great feature about the computer controllers is that when I program I can have the lights do a lot of neat effects.
Such as:
-
Shimmer
-
On
-
Off
-
Fade up
-
Fade down
-
& chase

For 2020 we have a total of 21 songs in the show and the show will average little bit of an hour long before the same songs play again.
CAUSE:
We also do it for a great cause. All money donated will go towards St. Jude's Children Hospital, Suffolk County Make-A-Wish Foundation and The Andrew Rosa Foundation. We want to give back and help those in need.
WHEN DOES IT START:
The Light display will be turned on Thanksgiving Night and it will run till New Years, From 5p.m to 11p.m Monday through Sunday.
